About the artist
In a nutshell I would describe myself as a natural born
artist.
I, like many creatives, I have been inventing and re-inventing myself ever since
I can remember. As a child, I can recall looking forward to waking up Saturday
mornings, while everyone was still fast asleep, going to my desk, and
allowing myself to get lost in whatever transcended through my hand and eventually
manifested itself onto paper. I would then tape them to my wall and be in awe of
what I created. I discovered the comfort of getting lost in the world of
creation.
In my college years, I studied Architecture and Interior
design. I worked in several different design domains and in 2004 opened my own
residential design company, Macko Interior Design. A discipline which is highly
detail oriented and technical. Yet with all the success and joy designing homes
has brought me, the little free-spirited child started calling out. I decided
to throw caution to the wind.
One trip to the art supplier, the purchase of a canvas, paints,
and art supplies, my initial contact with the canvas was the day the dam broke. It
was the summer of 2019 when the free-spirited child, that was put on hold for
so many years, was about to transcend yet again. And so, the journey began.
You will find that my art pieces tend to focus on close-ups of
animals, the female visage and recently added, custom portrait paintings. When I begin, the eyes are, without
exception, painted first. This way I can feel that my subjects are unquestionably alive
and asking to be completed. Depth is then created by adding layers upon layers of acrylic
paint.
Each painting has a story, an inspiration, and customarily a
song that I would listen to endlessly on replay. I would get lost for hours on
end only to then catch the distinct voice coming from the painting – "Thank
you, I have arrived"
I hope you enjoy walking though my art gallery and aim that
one of my piece’s tugs at you, as they have on me. It would be my honor to have
one of my paintings enhance your space.
Thank you for your support.
